Went to the show last night at the RBC.  Phenominal.  Consider my face thoroughly melted!

Mass Effect Pistol

I'm starting in on a new portfolio piece this week - The Mass Effect Pistol.

I've found a couple fairly decent reference shots and worked up a rough draft of the model that will be CNC'ed in MDF, then scrap molded and cast in urethane.  A couple long nights with a piece of sand paper and my trusty dremel and we should be in business.  Progress pictures below.

Halo-ween 2009

Although I didn't finish the costume as I would have liked to on the CNC table and all, I think it turned out okay considering the circumstances.  It's probably a good thing I didn't get the suit perfect with the idiots running up and punching me last night.

The only Hobbes out there!

Even unarmored Master Cheif is deadly!

Pepakura Speed Run

Today I am pushing the physical speed limits of the laser cutter to see if it is possible to cut and assemble an entire Spartan chest and back piece in one day. I have an hour reserved on the Epilog at 2:00 and an hour at 5:00.  Hopefully I can get this 20 something page monster done in that amount of time.

If all goes well, I'll be fiberglassing it tonight. The time is 2:14 anddddd GO!

Robits and Pepakura

I finally learned how to cut pepakura pieces with the Epilog laser cutter at TechShop the other day. Assembling complex 3d models takes a 1/10th of the time it previously did. And they said I'd need to learn how to use scissors to pass 1st grade. hah!
